User Permissions

Track & Trace supports a variety of user roles designed to give the right level of access to the right people. Roles control what each user can view or edit, from asset visibility to maintenance, dashboards, and notifications.

Roles are assigned when creating a user and can be adjusted anytime by an account Admin. Below is a quick explanation of what each role is intended for, followed by a simplified feature comparison chart.

User Role Descriptions

Role	Description
Admin	Full access to all features, including user management, asset editing, reports, dashboards, and group control. Ideal for system owners or organization managers.
Maintenance	Intended for service or maintenance personnel. Can view and edit maintenance records, asset notes, and limited asset data.
Power User	A high-level operational role with the ability to make changes to assets, apply flags, use bulk tools, and manage most asset-level settings.
Standard	General-use role for everyday tasks. Has wide visibility but limited editing capabilities.
Read Only	Can view almost all platform features but cannot make edits. Best for internal stakeholders who need to monitor without making changes.
Inspector	Recommended only for accounts using the Compliance Add-On. Provides field-level visibility with limited interaction. This role supports compliance workflows such as roadside checks or inspections.
Admin/Inspector	Combines Admin capabilities with Inspector-level visibility—rarely used but sometimes helpful for advanced field teams or compliance administrators.
Distributor Admin	Used in reseller or distribution contexts. Similar to Admin but scoped to distributor-level access.
Dispatch User	Has access to asset organization features like groups, flags, and views, but with limited configuration or administrative tools.
Channel Partner Admin / Customer	These roles should almost never be used. If you believe you need to assign one of these roles, please contact [e-mail] before proceeding.
Personal User	Only used for drivers. This role is extremely limited and is designed to support compliance and ELD visibility. It should not be used for any other type of user. Personal Users can only interact with assets they are or were assigned to as a driver.

Important Role Guidance

• Inspector: Should only be used with the Compliance Add-On
• Channel Partner roles (CP Admin/Customer): Should not be used without confirmation from Geoforce Support
• Personal User: Reserved only for assigned drivers; not suitable for admin or operational use
